# Use Ondes PRO with ChatGPT

> Add Ondes PRO as an MCP connector in ChatGPT developer mode: OAuth sign-in, questions about your sales and customers, write access depending on your plan.

ChatGPT supports **custom MCP connectors** through developer mode, in beta on the web. Add your Ondes PRO workspace address and you can ask about your orders, quotes, customers and schedule in plain language, with your permissions and nothing more. What ChatGPT may write depends on your OpenAI plan; this page separates what is certain from what is not.

## Create the Ondes PRO connector in ChatGPT

The connection uses OAuth only: a window from your workspace opens, you sign in, you authorise. There is no key to handle inside ChatGPT.

Where to set it up : Settings → Connectors, in developer mode (beta, web only); write access depends on the ChatGPT plan.

1. In ChatGPT, open **Settings**, then **Connectors**, and turn on **developer mode**.
2. Choose **Create** a connector and name it “Ondes PRO”.
3. Paste your workspace URL: `{{URL}}`, with **OAuth** authentication.
4. Confirm, then authorise the connection in your Ondes PRO workspace window.

## Which ChatGPT plans support MCP connectors?

Developer mode is an OpenAI **beta** feature, available on the web. Its availability — and, more importantly, whether ChatGPT can **write** rather than just read through a custom connector — varies by plan: OpenAI documents it for Business, Enterprise and Edu, and public information is inconsistent for individual plans. In an organisation, an admin often has to allow it first.

Our advice: check OpenAI’s help page for what your plan allows when you read this, rather than trusting a table that will have aged. On the Ondes PRO side nothing changes between ChatGPT plans: the server exposes the same eight tools and enforces the same permissions.

## Example: prepping a client meeting in two minutes

_Example conversation · demo data (Atelier Lumen)_

> **You** : I’m seeing Maison Verdier tomorrow. Brief me: open quotes, invoices, latest notes, and what they ordered this year.
>
> 🔧 `ondes_assistant` Question passed to the built-in assistant, which cross-checks the CRM record, quotes, invoices and store orders.
>
> **Assistant** : Maison Verdier: one open quote, **DEV-2026-0158** (6 Suspension Laiton and a velvet sofa, €4,320 excl. VAT), sent 12 days ago with no reply. Two invoices this year, both paid on time. Latest note from Hugo Lambert: “want a brushed brass sample before signing off”. Online orders: 3 Lampe Trépied in March. I’d bring the sample and follow up on the quote in person.
>
> **You** : Great. Add a “sample handed over” note to their record after the meeting.
>
> **Assistant** : Come back to me after the meeting: I will have the Ondes PRO assistant prepare the note as a plan for you to confirm. Nothing is written without your approval.

## Where ChatGPT shines with Ondes PRO

ChatGPT is comfortable with **operational questions** that span several modules: preparing a meeting, summarising the store’s week, spotting overdue invoices, finding who owns an account. For these it readily goes through the `ondes_assistant` tool, which queries the Ondes PRO built-in assistant — the one that knows your modules and pulls the answers together.

For **writes**, two safeguards stack up. On the ChatGPT side, an action that changes data goes through a confirmation in the conversation, when your plan allows writes at all. On the Ondes PRO side, the built-in assistant presents its changes as a **plan**, executed only after you approve; and a direct API call goes to test mode on resources that have one.

## Questions to try in ChatGPT

- “What is the store’s revenue this month compared with last month?”
- “Which customers haven’t ordered anything in six months?”
- “List overdue cards on the Workshop board, with who they’re assigned to.”
- “What’s on my calendar on Thursday?”
- “How many Arc floor lamps are left, and is a production order under way?”

> **A connection with your permissions, cut whenever you like** — The connector acts with your full identity in Ondes PRO: what you can see, ChatGPT can see, nothing more. It appears in the **MCP** tab of **API & Developers** with its last activity; “Revoke” cuts it off immediately. The access token lives for one hour and every call is logged. ## ChatGPT doesn’t see my tools: what to check

First, that **developer mode** is on and the connector is selected in the conversation: a custom connector is not used until it is offered to ChatGPT. Then, that your Ondes PRO role includes the **API & Developers** module, without which the connection is refused.

Finally, if ChatGPT ignores a module, it is almost always because your role does not open it: the server never documents a resource to the assistant that would answer “access denied”. Ask your workspace admin to adjust your role, then reconnect.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can ChatGPT use MCP servers?

Yes, through developer mode, in beta on the web: it lets you create a connector from a remote MCP server address. For Ondes PRO, that address is `https://<your-workspace>.ondes.pro/mcp/`, with OAuth authentication.

### Which ChatGPT plans allow writes through an MCP connector?

OpenAI documents writes through custom connectors for its Business, Enterprise and Edu plans; for individual plans, public information varies. Check OpenAI’s developer mode help page for the current state. Read access is the most widely available case.

### Can I connect ChatGPT to Ondes PRO with an API key?

We only recommend OAuth with ChatGPT: it is what its connector creation screen offers, and it avoids handing a key to a third-party service. The connection is named and revocable from your workspace.

### Can ChatGPT change my invoices or orders?

Only if your ChatGPT plan allows writes, with your permissions, and after confirmation. An issued invoice is never deleted through the API: a credit note is issued instead. Changes proposed by the Ondes PRO assistant are a plan to confirm.

### Has the Ondes PRO team tested ChatGPT?

No. ChatGPT implements the standard MCP protocol our server follows, so the connection should work, but developer mode is in beta and its interface keeps changing. Only Claude has been verified end to end by our team.
